About our coalition
Alone a ripple,
together a tide.
Every lasting change begins with one person willing to act, but it only gains force when others join in. With our shared legacy with LA Black Workers’ Center, we know that bringing together neighbors, partner organizations, and the policy makers can turn momentum into law. Individual efforts stop being isolated gestures and start moving in the same direction.
Our approach
Helping research meet readiness
01 — Policy development, analysis & promotion
We find & write policies that build Black worker power
Aggregating efforts from around the nation, we curate and improve the policies that serve our communities best—and make sure the public knows, understands, and rallies around their impact.
02 — Finding, training, & endorsing candidates
We identify & support aligned candidates
Finding or cultivating candidates with shared values and the resolve to reshape government, we train policy makers on the work that promises the greatest impact and hold them accountable to implementing it in the world.
03 — Voter mobilization & community support
We inform & motivate voters to support strong policy
With a legible and sharable set of policy, a roster of quality candidates, and an inspired base of advocates, we grow public support to shift government priorities and make real, meaningful change.
Our vision
Political power drives an equitable economy—from the inside
We envision a world where Black workers thrive. A world where workplaces are accountable to us and our rights. And we all have equitable access to meaningful, sustained, and quality employment.
01
Greater job opportunity
Between 2024 and 2025, unemployment for Black Californians jumped from 5.6% to 7.5%, reaching double the rate of white Californians. We fight for policies that open the door to good jobs, not just any job. Unequal Ground, UCLA Bunche Center
02
Better wages
In LA County, the median Black household earns $59,034. That's about $24,000 below the county median and $46,000 less than white households. We push for pay that reflects the true value of Black workers' labor. State of Black LA County, LA County ARDI
03
Strong labor protections
Nearly half (49%) of Black Californians working part-time want full-time hours and can't get them, up from 39% a year earlier. That's the steepest rise of any racial group. We fight for stable hours, real benefits, and workplace protections every worker deserves. Unequal Ground, UCLA Bunche Center
